琴風な弦楽器奏者Bei Beiと現代のRichard Evans、Charles Stepney的作風を奏でるShawan Leeの共同作!!


リリース当時一部から「Bei Bei って何者？」と騒がれていている彼女。中国四川省出身現在はC.A.在住の、グーチョンと呼ばれる中国古来の弦楽器（日本の琴の元と言われ、シタールの流れを汲む楽器）女性演奏者。
このオリエンタルでいて、Alice Coltraneの様なスピリチュアル・ジャズ・フィーリング、そしてFour Tetの様なメロウ感と浮遊感な音色が、Shown Leeの作り出すタイトなビート上で何とも言えぬ不思議な音世界へ引き込む。それはまるで現代解釈のDavit Axelrod、Richard Evansがアレンジを手掛けたDorothy Ashbyのような幻想的かつエキゾチックな空間といえる。オリエンタル・ファンク「Into The Wind」「Hot Thursday」「Esat」「The Ambush」他、「Make Me Stronger」「Willingness」ではGeorgia Anne Muldrowが参加し、スピリチュアルな輝きを放っている。

Into the Wind marries a unique blend of ancient tradition with studio trickery, fusing Bei Bei's harping with Shawn Lee's adding of doses of hip hop, electric jazz, and soul sensibility to the backing tracks, the captivating sound of Bei Bei’s Guzheng (a 2000 year old Chinese string instrument) comes alive on peaceful mellow joints just like it does on Kung-Fu flavored funk tunes!
